It's been a while since I've had time for a DYI project. Well, the stars lined up and I did it. Mollie and I both needed something with our house number on it. I found some cute flags on Pinterest, and decided to try.
First, I cut a pattern from a paper bag. I measured the metal piece that the flag will be on. Then cut the pattern with a 1/2 inch seam allowance on each side. The bag was shorter than I wanted so I added a few inched to the length. I chose a chevron pattern for each flag
. With right side together, I began sewing 2 inched from the top, then stopped at the bottom and left about 3 inches unsewn to turn it right side out. Then I repeated on the other side. I turned it right side out and top stitched 1/4 inch from the edge. Then with iron on numbers, I placed the house numbers and ironed them on according to package directions. I picked up the numbers on clearance at Tuesday Mornings for 10 cents a set. Any craft store should have them. On the LSU flag, the numbers are on both sides, on the La Tech Flag the numbers were only on one side. I top stitched each number on the Tech Flag. If I make another 2 sided flag, I will iron on and top stitch the numbers before I assemble the flag.
