Yeah Saturday

I spent some time with Dale this morning.  He had to take something to a friend, so I went with him.  It's good to have a couple of hours to talk.  Then I went to pick up Millie's stuff in her booth at Kool Kids consignment.  She sold bows and other girlie things.  There were only two booths with bows, so she did much better this year.  Next, was some time with Mollie - she thought that 55 degrees was warm enought to tan - she found out it was not!!!  I spent some time sanding on my secretary make over project - I removed the pulls and sanded several drawers.  Still a long way to go, but at least I can say that I have started on it.

We are planning to have boiled crawfish tonight.  I'm not cooking them.  Going out.  I hope they do not run out before we get there!!!  This day has gone way to fast.

It's Almost Spring

I was able to get outside at work today and take a few pictures.  These daffodils are almost blooming.  There are a few leaves on the trees trying to bud out, but most still have the winter look.

There a a few buds on this tree.

Up Loading/Furniture

Just realized that I have not set up my lap top for pictures.  I am loading the software that came with my new camera.  It's taking a while, when we get back from church I plan to post pictures of my furniture purchase yesterday and maybe a few others.  Next project - moving pics from the old computer to another source.  The computer is old and connecting a cable or a key maybe a problem.

Here it is the first piece for me to turn from trash to treasure.  I would love suggestions or ideas.  I plan to remove the paint from the top and stain the top.  I plan to paint the rest of if a creamy white and destress it.  I am going to replace the pulls, but not sure what type to add.  I'll be checking other blogs for ideas.

Treasure Hunting

There were only 4 garage sales in town today, none had anything I was interested in.  But - my friend knew a second hand place.  I found my first piece to refinish.  It's a big secretary type cabinet thing.  It is currently painted green - not a pretty shade of green.  I plan to  remove the paint/finish from the top and stain the wood.  Then paint the rest a creamy white (the color of the trim in my house).  Next, I will replace the knobs and pulls.  Also give it a drestressted look.  I think that I may take the side door off the top half and leave the shelves open.  We will see.  The whole thing may end up off white.  Dale will need to fix a couple of broken wood pieces.  I think one broke on the ride home on the trailer.  I'm excited.  I'll gather up everything to start removing the paint from the top.  Maybe I can start next week after work.  It's sitting in my garage now, that should be a good place to work.  I also found some scrap book paper for Mollie's coat rack project.  I'm waiting for the Fleu de lis to come in.  I ordered them from Etsy on Thursday.

We had to feed the cows and put out hay today.  Got to the farm and had a flat on the front tractor tire.  Went to the house and the power was out.  We removed the tire, put the hay bale pickup thing on another tractor, and called to have the power back on.  Dale was able to put the hay out.  It is suppose to start raining tomorrow.  I'm glad we were able to make another tractor work until the tire can be repaired on Monday.

Today's Deal's

I've been trying to be good and not spend any money, but 1/2 prices sales usually get me. I found these today at the dollar store. I purchased 4, 2 are the same. I love a bargain.

I'm Ready to turn Trash to Treasure

I've been reading blogs about flea market finds. We don't have a good flea market here, but I'm ready head to some garage sales. I'm looking for something to store stuff in, something that I can paint, (it’s the easiest for me). We are going to make my daughter's old room into a craft room so I need something to store everything in. She still has stuff in her closet. This is pay week so I plan to hit the road Saturday looking for someone else's trash to turn to treasure.

It's sunny & a beautiful blue sky outside, but I want to post a few more snow pictures.

Love Reasons

Since its Valentines Day, here are reasons why I Love Dale.  It's a little strange to put it down on paper, but here goes.

About Me

1. He Loves Jesus.

2. He is seldom without an answer

3. He is smart

4. He is a wonderful Dad

5. He is loving and caring.

6. He is a great provider

7. He is optimistic

8. He still loves me as much as our wedding day

9.  He can make me laugh

10. He is finding ways to fill our empty nest with love.

There are more these are just a few.  Next year.....

This is really the first I've really spent thinking about Valentines Day.  I spent almost all day on Saturday working on our tax preparation.  Stopped at 11:30 pm.  I'm taking the day off.  I will start back tomorrow.

Why La Has Low Test Scores

Why is Louisiana at the bottom of the educational list? Because, school is let out all the time for no reason!!!!! It is 37 degrees and snowing to be followed by rain this afternoon. It is not supposed to be below freezing today. School has just be let out and also canceled for tomorrow.

I just looked out the window and the snow has stopped. There is light rain - very light rain - like sprinkles. Our kids deserve better. Can our officials at the school board office read a weather report? Maybe they are reading the one for the Eastern Seaboard?

The roads are clear, this is so dumb!!!!

Well it's really snowing now.  Temp has dropped to 34 at 2:45 PM.  To add to the fun of the day Millie had a flat on the way from class to work.  She was able to pull of at a convience store and called for help.  There were no men around and I was not going to crawl under her vehicle in my new white jacket to get the spare.  Thank goodness for Walpole Tire - great friends to the rescue.  They put her spare on, then she dropped off her vehicle to have them finish everything up.  I took her to work and we will pick it up after 5:00.  There were 2 other cars that pulled in with flat while we were there.  Must have been something in the road.

It's beginning to Sneaux (Snow)

It's beginning to snow. Its 37 degrees with a chance of a 3" of snow. It's been a while since its snowed here. If the Saints can win a Super Bowl, then we can get a snow. It's funny how everyone thinks a little snow is actually a blizzard. Already the plans for tonight have been cancelled. Our Connect Group from church was headed to Mercy Ministries to have a devotional with the girls. We used to do this around Christmas, but changed at their request to after the first of the year. They get many Christmas visits and wanted to schedule them throughout the year. We bring a sack of small gifts to each girl and have a devotional. It's a blessing for everyone. I just wish we could show the same love we share with them to members of our own church who are hurting and are in rebellion. Those are often the ones who get a cold shoulder or looked down upon. There are so many people (mainly families with youth/college kids) who did not feel loved or accepted at our church. Many of these families have left our church to join another one or just don’t attend anywhere. These kids are no different than the girls at Mercy Ministries.

Come on people give them some love!!!!!

Headed to Big D

It's time for our annual weekend trip with Dale's company. Two nights away!!! This year it's in Dallas (well Rockwall) on Lake Ray Hubbard. The weather is cold and cloudy, maybe will see some sunshine sometime this weekend. We are going the Mavericks game tonight then have a breakfast on Saturday. Then we are on our own. I plan to join another couple for something to do on Saturday. I always love shopping, but with Dale along, don't know how much shopping he will go for. We will find someone to eat with Saturday night, and I hope we all eat breakfast together on Sunday like we did last year.

Both girls will be staying at the house. Hope they get along!

1st Post in a While

It's been a long time since I have posted.... lots going on. I just completed a 3 day conference that I was in charge of. Long days before it began, long days during, and still trying to wrap it up with thank you notes.

The next big project is our "Women's R & R", Refreshment & Renewal. It is next month!!! Just 7 weeks away. I am publicity chair and it's been alot of work. You would think with computer, Facebook, email, blogs, etc. the job might be easier. People are so distracted these days. We have mailed out brochures, put up fliers, have a website; so I hope the word is getting out. I know that everyone waits until the last minute to register, but it still makes me nervous.

If you are interested in hearing Margaret Ashmore join us Saturday, March 20 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, LA. Check out our website at www.womensrandrconference.com.

Well, back to work.
